Pond Matte Painting

This matte painting was done as part of a project for my motion graphics class. I started with this original image that I took during my trip to Europe:

The assignment was to create a minute long matte painting, and the matte painting had to be animated in some way. I took the approach to make a realistic flat image and bring it to life. I added multiple layers to the video including cloud movement, day/ night cycles, water / tree movement, and adding a light to the house that flickers at night. This was my first ever matte painting and some of the ideas didn't work as well as I had hoped, however I did have a lot of fun exploring different features in after effects.
