Broke Man's Philosophy is an influencer brand that I created from scratch. The goal of this project was to create a brand using social media. The brand itself will be used on YouTube, blog, and podcast. Where as the rest of the social media accounts (TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, etc) will be using my name (Shane Tremel). This brand is a personal finance channel that will help people learn about personal finance, financial freedom, self education, investing, and more. The hope is for these accounts to eventually just become my main social media accounts as I am interested in personal finance and becoming an influencer (if all goes well).

For this project I started by brainstorming the concept for the channel, I made lists of different potential topics that I was interested in, from gaming, to sports, and finally to finance. I rediscovered an older blog that I ran a few months back and decided to transform it from just a simple blog to a full on finance focused brand, with YouTube being the main focus. Now that I knew what the channel was going to be named and the main focus of the content. I developed a three month plan for video / podcast topics. I also developed a basic strategy for growing the brand:

The main focus of the brand is on YouTube, with videos (every Friday) and podcast episodes (every other Tuesday) In order to grow the channel we should be posting clips/ highlights from our videos and podcasts, as well as short form content for reels / TikTok to all other social media (everyday clips on TikTok and Instagram Reels). Some high quality clips can be posted on Twitter and the regular instagram page, but main focus for clips is reels and TikTok. To promote our new content we should post on twitter and our instagram story linking to the new video / podcast. For the main content on Twitter and Instagram, we can do mainly lifestyle posts / events we are doing or anything along those lines. We can post more than what the schedule says but should try our best to stay consistent with the schedule for the most growth. Podcast episodes will also be filmed, so podcast episodes will double as a YouTube video, with the audio only versions uploaded to podcast sites should be making at least two or three TikTok's per week that aren't clips / highlights, so these videos should be made specifically for TikTok / Reels / YouTube shorts, days without unique short form content should be used to post clips / highlights from main videos. One stream of income from this channel will be through affiliate marketing, can have links to brokerage platforms, amazon affiliate links for any product mentioned in a video (books, etc) and all equipment using to record the videos. When editing the YouTube video / Podcasts, export highlight clips that can be used throughout the week for short form content

Below is the three month plan as well as the uploading schedule that also sums up the strategy mentioned above:

One unfortunate thing about this project is that I can't get analytics for the content because of the timeline and the fact that all my work is pre-production work. I'd love to make a follow up in a couple months breaking down the analytics and reanalyzing the growth strategy, which for now is to focus on YouTube, and using other social medias (mainly TikTok) to direct viewers to the YouTube channel.

Once I had the brands content plan and strategy in place, I got busy creating an identity for the brand. I wanted to include aspects of the channel in this identity, and I wanted it to be fairly simple and clean looking. I had a list of deliverables for this project that I wanted for the final product, this included the banner, logo, stream overlay, and thumbnail templates. After lots of drafts, and reworking the idea a bunch of times, I eventually came up with the brands identity, which is showcased with the following video (note - I cut the audio of me talking, this video is meant to show off the graphics and other assets I created):

The next part of the project was to create the accounts and the website. Note that as of now there is no actual content on the social media accounts, besides the logo, banner, and biographies. With that in mind these accounts can be found by clicking on the following links: YouTube, TikTok, Twitter, Instagram, Anchor.fm, and Facebook. Note that the anchor fm page is set up but since I don't have any content yet it shows up as "content unavailable". Anchor fm is an awesome site for podcasts because it is free and uploads your podcasts to multiple different platforms like Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and more.

Another big part of this project was creating the website, which can be found here! (Note - I am planning on changing the url to www.brokemansphilosophy.com, once I actually start posting content I will buy the domain). The main function of the website is to house my merch store and blog (which was made prior to this project, I imported to the new site so that it had content to show!). The merch store is set up and fully functional, and is activated right now for this project, however until my brand has an actual following I don't have any shirts or merch, usually merch comes from channel jokes or repeating themes. Since I haven't started making videos yet it is hard to come up with meaningful merch. However it is all set up, all I would need to do is replace the images with the future merch!

Below you can find all the assets I created for this project, starting with the banner, overlay, and a couple thumbnail examples using the template I created.

The video below is the logo for the channel, which is set up to infinitely loop when I use it.

Next is the intro that will be used in each video.

This is the stinger / transition animation.

Lastly is the ending thanks for watching screen, note that the two rectangles will have two recommended videos added to them. When you upload a video to YouTube you can add cards recommended other videos to watch, that is what will be added to the two rectangles. The circle will still be the logo however it will also have a subscribe button added to it (once again something you add when actually uploading to YouTube).
